Welcome to the official website of The Disease Profiling Project, aptly titled: "Profiling of Economically Important Diseases of Swine and Cattle in the Philippines for Enhanced Disease Management, Surveillance and Control". This project is being implemented by the College of Veterinary Medicine University of the Philippines Los Baños, as administered and supported by the Republic of the Philippines Department of Agriculture, Philippine Council for Agriculture and Fisheries and the United States Department of Agriculture through the Public Law 480 Title I Program. It aims to uplift the Philippine livestock industry by improving research on economically important diseases for proper disease management, surveillance and control.

GLIMPSES 2: DEVELOPMENTS IN VETERINARY DIAGNOSTIC LABORATORIESSeptember 25, 2017 - On its second run, a one-day free lecture seminar entitled Glimpses: Developments in Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratories has been made possible by the UP CVM-DA Disease Profiling Project in collaboration with University of Cambridge last September 22, 2017 at NCAS Auditorium, UPLB.

educational articlesDNA SEQUENCING: ILLUMINA WORKFLOW PART-1 (DNA ISOLATION, QUALITY CONTROL, AND DILUTION)October 19, 2017 - One of the main goals of the Disease Profiling Project is to generate a DNA/RNA sequence database of existing and circulating strains of selected swine and cattle pathogens in the Philippines. To accomplish this, the project has partnered with the Philippine Genome Center in UP Diliman to perform the DNA sequencing and gene/genome assembly work.
